Ina Nicosia-Schelker

Ina S. Nicosia-Schelker founded Kids Camp in 2002. Her idea was to provide sports, music and cultural events for children during school breaks. These programs quickly grew and currently host between 300 and 400 campers per year.

In 2007, together with Bettina Schelker, Nicosia-Schelker AG was founded and the first Kid’s Camp Pre-school class was opened. Two years later a Kindergarten was added and in 2011 KCI added their first baby group and Primary School.

Nicosia-Schelker has a bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Sports Science and a concentration in Elementary Education. She also has a master’s degree in Physical Education/Athletic Administration and an international certificate to teach English as a foreign language.

She competed in Division 1 Track and Field and Basketball while at The University of Richmond and attended 3 Olympic trials before becoming a professional basketball player in 1995. The Vineland Hall of Fame Inductee, coached basketball at James Madison University, Central Michigan University and the American University before coming out of retirement to play basketball in Switzerland in 2001. She was previously employed at the International School of Basel and also served as head of the English Department at the Swiss International School. She is currently the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of Basel where she coached the team to the 2010 NLB national championship.  Uni Basel currently competes in the National A League.  She also handles management and booking for foundagirl records.


Bettina Nicosia-Schelker

Bettina Schelker joined the Kids Camp team 2004 as a camp coach. From there, she took over as coordinator of the entire camp program, including organizaton, promotion, licenses, insurances and book keeping. In 2007, she was named President of Nicosia-Schelker AG and along with Ina Nicosia-Schelker, she founded the first pre-school and kindergarten programs at Kid’s Camp International.

Schelker is the former internationally undefeated Swiss National Boxing Champion 2004. She was also active on the national level in Soccer and Handball and is an avid snowboarder, surfer and wind surfer.

Schelker is also a well known singer/musician who has recently completed a 14 country, 200 show world tour. After being signed by Polygram Records, Schelker founded her own independant music label called foundagirl records. Schelker has been on both the Swiss and German radio music charts and has toured with or opened for Chumbawamba, Rihanna, Hansen, Van Morrison, Raemonn, Ronan Keating, Barclay James Harvest, and many more. She is the 2007 Grand Prize Winner of the John Lennon International Songwriting Contest.

Bettina is an educated Primary School teacher.
